Special Master
Hon. Gretchen Taylor and her services as Special Master can be by Court
Appointment or Stipulation.
Any issue short of the entire case can be delegated by you or the Judge
in the case to determination by a Special Master.
The possibilities are too numerous to mention. Some of the most common issues are tracing and valuation issues such as real estate, businesses or other harder to value assets such as intellectual property or mixed assets that are part community part separate property.
Special master services can also be specifically delegated issues of child custody determination such as school placement, medical and/or psychological treatment, or enrollment and participation in extra-curricular activities.
The most salient feature of a Special Master role is that it is Court Ordered and is binding as to the issue delegated to the Master.
Gretchen Taylor has a depth of knowledge from her vast experience on the Family Law bench that it is more efficient to determine many thorny issues in this manner than through traditional litigation.
